Blooming Beautiful

Not long now and Spring will be here, I am so looking foreward to some warmer days and Sunshine. My kitchen is looking brighter already with these beautiful daffodils picked fresh this morning. They are such a cheerful flower.

I have a few more bulbs in my garden that are blooming, these grape Hyacinth are so sweet and their big sisters at the back there in a pot. The fragrance is  lovely,  Its such a fun time of year seeing all the new growth on winter plants that have been dormant for what seems like forever. Finally bringing some colour in my garden
I had a bit of fun this morning and took my newly finished log cabin quilt to the park for a little photo shoot. It was too wet to be on the grass so I found some nice dry rocks near the creek and this was the perfect place to lay my quilt and take some photos.

I actually still need to sew the binding on this quilt but I love it so much I couldn't  wait to get some photos.

Today I am finishing off another quilt, I'm on a roll here people.

Have a great day and thankyou  for stopping by.

All for me

I have some amazing friends let me tell you. My friend Cathy went on a trip to USA and attended a quilting retreat, as I couldn't go my American friends made me some gifts for Cathy to bring home and give  to me. Vanessa made me this gorgeous shoulder bag from my favourite fig tree fabric. I LOVE it.
Cynthia made me this awesome little pouch, it will be perfect to carry in my hand bag.
 Plus all these little goodies.

Cathy made me this beautiful bee block and got all the ladies from retreat to sign it for me. I'm going to make a mini quilt and hang it in my sewing room. I thought it was such a lovely idea.

What do you think of this block, isn't it great. I tested this pattern for my friend Janice, it was so much fun to put together. Good job Janice, your instructions were perfect.
I have't done much sewing this week, instead I have been doing cross stitch. Its good to have a change. I made a little halloween project, now I just need to make it into a mini pillow.
I also found some free cross stitch pear patterns in Pinterest, I sewed them up today and just need to stuff the other one. I thought they turned out pretty, cute.

The weekend is nearly over for another week, they always go so fast. Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful week. xx

I do love a weekend when we don't have anything on, I can do what I want whenever I want. Of course I'm referring to my sewing. I love waking up on Saturday knowing I've got all day to play in my sewing room.
I love making  little displays in my room, here is one of them. I found a sweet wire basket at the shops but it was a bit small for quilts so I put my table runners in it. I like the look of rolled up quilts.
On Saturday I made a little fabric basket to have out on display. This is Little Ruby fabric by Bonnie & Camille, I have collected all their fabric ranges since Bliss.  I folded up my layer cake squares and stired them int he basket. Isn't it pretty!!
In the evenings I like to have some hand sewing to work on, the last 2 weeks I have been stitching this Gail pan design,  Its ready to be quilted now,  This pattern is going to test my hand quilting skills. I'm not keen on hand quilting but I'll give it a go.

You may remember last week I shared this quilt and said I was making it for our son Jacob, Well I'm still making Jacobs quilt but this one isn't his. its MINE. A very special friend is sending me some USA patriotic fabric to use for the remaining flags in Jacobs quilt so while I'm waiting for that to arrive I decided to make another quilt  for me using all my Bonnie & Camille fabrics, I have 15 different navy fabrics and 15 different reds, I love it. The blocks are so quick to make. I did all the cutting out and then each day sewed a few blocks before I went to work.
I can go to work today satisfied I got lots of sewing done over the weekend  and even a few things finished.

I hope you all have a wonderful week, Thankyou for stopping by. xx

To do list....

I never seem to run out of things I want to sew, my "To Do" list is always growing, Are you the same?
See this lovely piece of fabric, well I had no intention of doing anything with it right away but I was looking in my cupboard and there is  was staring back at me. way too cute to cut up so I decided to make a little mat to sit on my desk in my room. Its so very sweet and as I'm only the only female in my house it was just something pretty I made just for me.We all deserve to have pretty things in our sewing rooms don't you agree.
If you go on Instagram I am sure you have seen many photos of this American flag quilt, well this went right to the top of my To Do list and I have made 12 blocks so far, just  three more to go. I am loving it, This quilt will be for our son Jacob, who is saving up to be a Summer Camp leader in the US in 2018.
Once I finished my log cabin quilt, I decided to get this top together, I had all the blocks made so it was just a matter of taking some time to work on getting it finished. Now to make a scrappy border. Then that will be another quilt ticked off my list.

Its such a good feeling to get your projects finished.

Enjoy your Sunday and I hope you find some sewing time.

Log cabins

I have had a wonderful weekend finishing off my Kansas troubles log cabin quilt. I love it alot,
I made a total of 25 blocks and each one was so much fun to put together, choosing different fabrics to cut into was the most fun. I have quite a healthy stash of Kansas Troubles fabrics and digging right to the bottom of my box I found some I had forgot I even had.
These fabrics were the very first collections I started to buy when I fell in love with quilting, I think I have made at least 10 Kansas Troubles quilt.
The star block was nice to make for a change instead of a plain red centre, they finish at 4 inches so quite fiddly to make but worth it in the end.
Yesterday I handed it over to my quilter to work her magic, I chose a lovely feather quilting design so I can't wait to get it back and get that binding on. There is still a few months of cold weather left so I'm sure it will get used straight away.

How did you spend your weekend? I hope you found some sewing time.

Birthday Gifts

The last few weeks have seen me busy in my sewing room working on birthday gifts. I have had so much fun deciding what to make for which friend. They all have similar taste but I like to make something unique to them.
I think I did good, I did sort of make them similar gifts but each one is very different, does that make sense? The theme was sewing carry all.
One friend has a Pouch with a view, these are tricky to make but once you have made one and you decide to make more they are pretty easy,

Another friend is a gorl after my own heart and loves fig tree just as much as I do so I made her a sweet zipper pouch . Love that cute pear on the front. This friend collects pears so this is perfect for her.

For my other friend I have made her a pouch with a flap, it can be used to carry a lap top or paper work or even sewing goodies, I'm sure she will put it to good use.
This young man turned 18 last week, Jacob is our middle son. The years sure do zoom by.
We had a lovely family dinner which was so much fun.
I had to get a few family pics.
These boys bring so much joy to my life.

Time to start some sewing and get working on a new project.

Have a wonderful day.  xx

My new design

Good Morning, Today I am very proud to share with you my newest design, this project is featured in this months Homespun magazine.
Let me introduce you to "Boy Toys" A  sweet hexagon baby quilt with a few little stitcheries. This was such a fun design to make. I love doing stitcheries and hexagons, its an easy portable project you can throw in your bag and work on any time you have a few spare moments.
 I hope you like it.
As a designer nothing makes me happier than seeing my designs on the pages of a magazine. Knowing many people will be looking at it and hopefully choosing fabrics from their stash to make their own version.
Something else I whipped up recently was this custom cushion for a man I work with, he wanted me to make a cushion for his daughter with her name on it, all the directions he gave me were bright colours, so this is what I came up with. I'm so happy how it turned out. I took it to work and gave it to my colleague and then the next day his very happy daughter came in to thank me. I do love making things for people to enjoy.

I'm spending the day with a few friends for a stitching session so I had better get organised, have a wonderful Sunday and thankyou for stopping by.
